Pre-wrath Rapture theology is an eschatological (study of end times prophecies) viewpoint concerning the timing of the rapture of the church. The rapture for those who may be unfamiliar with the term is the gathering of both living and the resurrection of dead believers in Jesus Christ. It is foretold in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 - "51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed." and is spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2:1 -"Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him...". It is also foretold in Matt.24:31 - "And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other."
The most common viewpoint concerning this event is known as the pre-trib rapture. This theology believes that the church will be raptured prior to the prophecied 70th week of Daniel. Dan. 9:24-27 - "Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. 25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."
This scripture speaks of a 70 week period. These are weeks of "years" so one week equals seven years. As vs. 26 points out the 69th week ended with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This has been proven mathematically to coincide with His death. Most bible scholars believe that the last week, the 70th week of Daniel is yet to come.
Pre-wrath believes that the church will stay for a portion of the 70th week and that we will be raptured at the 7th seal of Rev. 7. We believe our arrival in heaven is depicted in Rev. 7:9 - "After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands."
For the most part these blogs will assume the reader has a basic knowledge of biblical prophecy. If you do not, then please feel free to ask questions in the comments section and I will try to answer them to your satisfaction. The purpose of this blog is to provide the reader with an understanding of bible prophecy events so that the reader will not be unaware of what may be coming in the near future. As time goes on I will post several blogs containing info about this viewpoint to "flesh out" this topic in more detail. I look forward to your questions and comments.
