App. A - Specific Verses for Specific Problems - Part 1

The most important thing any Christian should do is to study and memorize as much of the bible as they can. The Word is our Sword and we are only as effective as our knowledge of His Word allows us to be. The bible probably has a verse or two about any possible situation the believer might encounter. The following is a list of scriptures that covers the most common situations and problems that face Christians today. This is certainly not an all-inclusive list and you may not find exactly the scripture you need, however, a little research with a Strong’s Concordance or an expanded book of topical verses will help you find the exact verse you are looking for. You’ll find I arranged the topics in alphabetical order.

Anger

James 1:19-20 - “My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.” (NIV)

Ps 37:8 - “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.”

Prov 15:1 - “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” (KJV)

Eph 4:26 - “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: “(KJV)

Eph 4:31-32 - “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” (KJV)

Courage

Ps 27:14 - “Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” (NIV)

Ps 31:24 - “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.” (NIV)

Isa 40:29 - “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (NIV)

Ps 23:4 - “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (NIV)

Deliverance from Sin

Acts 10:43 - “All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” (NIV)

Rom 6:6-7 - “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.” (KJV)

Rom 6:11 - “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (KJV)

Faith

Heb 11:1 - “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9 - “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (KJV)

1 Cor 16:13 - “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.”

Fear

Isa 41:13 - “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” (KJV)

Matt 10:28 - “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (KJV)

2 Tim 1:7 - “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (KJV)

1 Peter 3:12-14 - “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." 13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Ps 27:1,3 - “The LORD is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?… 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.”

Rom 8:37-39 - “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (KJV)

Forgiveness

Mark 11:25 - “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (NIV)

Matt 6:14-15 - “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (NIV)

1 John 1:7-9 - “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (KJV)

Guilt

Ps 103:12 - “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” (KJV)

Heb 8:12 - “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” (KJV)

Joy

Neh 8:10 - …“for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (KJV)

Ps 97:11-12 - “Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.

Ps 68:3 - “But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.” (KJV)

The love of God

John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJV)

Hos 14:4 - "I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.” (NIV)

Eph 2:4-5 - “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved.” (NIV)
